to the Born2Be Program Erica Lang and Alisa Bernhard share a passion for creating champions from start to finish. In addition to being gifted with an incredible eye and feel, they are dedicated to the longevity and well being of the horses entrusted to them. They assess each horse’s abilities and the rate at which they learn in order to tailor a custom program to fit the horse’s needs and the owner’s goals. To that end, they are also committed to teaching clients to be effective participants in the training process.

Erica and Alisa recognized early and still believe that their individual strengths complement each other. That is, whereas Erica is most passionate about western events, Alisa is most passionate about English events. Individual preferences notwithstanding, both are competent trainers and coaches and competitive exhibitors in both English and Western disciplines. Their combined talents enable Alisa and Erica to coach clients and to train horses for the specialized rail classes and all around competition. They are committed to being educated about the most current trends in the industry and dedicated to managing their program in ways that reflect their personal and professional integrity and their commitment to the well being of the horses entrusted to their care.

In order to keep the horses entrusted to their care in top shape, Alisa and Erica are committed to providing a quality feeding, veterinary, and shoeing regimen. Born2Be horses are cared for by world renowned veterinarian, Dr. John McCarroll of Aubrey, Texas. Alisa and Erica believe that along with proper training and care, happy and healthy horses make winning show horses.

Alisa Bernhard

Rural Germantown, Wisconsin native, Alisa Bernhard, was born into a horse family. Her mother and father, Susan and Richard Bernhard of Fieldstone Farm are well known for breeding and raising top quality show horses. From a young age, Alisa trained and prepped the family’s “homegrown” prospects for the show ring. While the Bernhard’s are primarily known for their English performance champions, Alisa has also trained and competed successfully in western events. Alisa earned her first major win at the age of 13 when she claimed an AQHYA Reserve World Championship in working hunter aboard Heza Lark Step. Since then, Alisa has continued to excel and, to date, boasts an outstanding resume of championships. That list includes over 35 AQHYA, AQHA, APHA, PtHA and ApHC World and Reserve World Championships, as well as ten AQHA Congress Championships in an array of classes, including: Western Riding, Trail; Horsemanship; Working Hunter; Hunter Hack; Equitation Over Fences; and Hunt Seat Equitation. Alisa has demonstrated her and her horses’ versatility by claiming All-Around and Reserve All-Around titles at the APHA World Show, QH Congress and AQHA World Show. She has also been the #1 APHA youth and amateur in the nation riding another Fieldstone Farm champion, Fleetstreet Max. Together, Alisa and Fleetstreet Max became the winningest duo in the history of APHA and “Max” was made into a 2010 Breyer Model Horse that is sold all over the world.

Alisa has a passion for creating champions from start to finish. Gifted with an incredible eye, feel and dedication to the longevity and well being of the horse, she continues to create champions year after year. Alisa prides herself in her ability to teach her clients how to be effective participants in the training process while also assessing each horses abilities and the rate in which they learn in order to tailor a custom program to fit the needs of individual horses.

Erica Lang

Unlike Alisa, Northern California native, Erica Lang, was not born into a horse family. However, from a young age, Erica was always enamored with horses and took her first pony ride at the age of three. There was no turning back after that first ride and horses became and remain a huge part of Erica’s life. Erica started riding hunter ponies and barrel horses and eventually transitioned into AQHA and APHA breed shows. Her first major win came at the AQHA Congress where she won the Novice Youth Hunt Seat Equitation riding QC Class Clown. Since then, Erica has earned over 15 APHA World and Reserve World Championships in Western Pleasure, Horsemanship, Trail, Western Riding, Hunt Seat Equitation and Showmanship. Erica has also placed in the top ten at the AQHYA World Show, was number one APHA Amateur in the nation in 2005, in addition to earning multiple national honor roll titles. Erica is committed to giving back to the associations in which she competes and has served as a board member for many local clubs.

Erica has a passion for teaching and communicating with both people and horses. She prides herself on creating a comfortable learning environment within which her clients are able to ask questions, learn new techniques and become a cohesive team with their horses. Like Alisa, Erica’s training philosophy emphasizes the well being and longevity of the horse. She is committed to tailoring a training program to suite both horses’ and clients’ individual needs.
